ST. NICHOLAS' CHURCH, BRIGHTON

The Parish of Brighton: St. Nicholas of Myra

Welcome to The Mother Church of Brighton founded in 1091.

Built to the glory of God, for more than 900 years Brighton's Ancient Mother Church has welcomed visitors through its doors - worshippers, seekers, tourists, people of all faiths and none. People visit churches for all sorts of reasons. Whatever has brought you to Brighton, we welcome you to this place, where people have brought their joys and their sorrows for many centuries.

There is an opportunity here to experience something built to give a direct experience of the divine to those who entered. For those who worship here today, it still has that power.

Whoever and wherever you may be, welcome to the Parish of Brighton, St Nicholas.

The Church is more than a building however splendid it might be and St Nicholas houses a lively, committed and growing congregation.

Worship is the mainspring of all that we do and our ministry is to the community which nestles around our building.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find links here that will help you to keep in touch, and by which those who do not know St Nicholas might learn of it.

Kids & Teens

Not only is St Nicholas Church the oldest church in our city but we also have lots of great programmes and activities for young people in Brighton! Some of our programmes, like Faithbook, are faith-based while others are not. Our Wednesday Youth Club provides a great opportunity for kids in Years 4 to 6 to play group games, take part in activities, and have fun with children from other school communities.
